Mrs. Nancy Cano

Mrs. Nancy Cano is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and an advanced level provider of cognitive behavior therapy (CBT). She is specialized in the treatment of OCD, anxiety disorders, selective mutism, tics and Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors (BFRB) which includes disorders such as Trichotillomania and Skin Picking Disorder. Nancy is the only BFRB certified bilingual (English/Spanish) therapist in California.
Nancy treats children, adolescents, adults, couples and their families and has diagnosed and treated a wide range of mental health disorders, including major depression, generalized anxiety, oppositional defiant disorder, selective mutism, post-traumatic stress disorder and obsessive compulsive disorder. Mrs. Cano is certified in the use of the Managing and Adapting Practices (MAP) system developed by UCLA clinicians. MAP is widely considered to be the single best resource for therapy interventions for children and adolescents.
Nancy strives to support clients in developing more adaptive ways of coping with stressors and to empower clients to utilize their strengths to overcome challenges. She is able to tailor her approach to accommodate individuals of all ages and uses creative interventions to make therapy understandable and effective for even the youngest participants. Nancy believes that therapy is a collaborative process. She guides her clients towards increasing their self-awareness, decreasing negative symptoms and magnifying their personal strengths.
