Dr. Haley Murphy

Picture
Dr. Haley Murphy is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with expertise in evidence-based practices. Dr. Murphy specializes in the treatment of children and families and primarily treats children ages 2-11. Dr. Murphy is well versed and experienced in several evidence-based treatments including Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Parent-Management Treatment (PMT), and is certified as a Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) therapist, following the UC-Davis model. Dr. Murphy’s passion is working with young children who may have difficulty handling their emotions, and with parents who may be struggling to manage their child's behaviors. She takes an individualized approach to working with young children and believes not all children come with the right “instruction manual”. Dr. Murphy has confidence that by working as a team, we can find the right tools for each child and family to succeed.

Dr. Murphy graduated with her PhD in Psychology from the prestigious doctoral program at Virginia Tech. She then completed an APA-accredited internship program, followed by an APA-accredited postdoctoral fellowship in Child & Adolescent Psychology at Harbor UCLA. During her academic training, Dr. Murphy was certified as research-reliable on the ADOS-2 and within-lab research reliable on the ADI-R, two gold-standard tools of autism assessment. Dr. Murphy has published journal articles  and presented research papers on several topics including Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), Autism Spectrum Disorder evaluation, assessment, and treatment, and therapeutic routine-outcome monitoring (ROM).

Besides treating oppositional and defiant behaviors as well as ADHD, Dr. Murphy enjoys treating childhood anxiety disorders  and obsessive compulsive disorder. Additionally, Dr. Murphy has a passion for working with neurodivergent youth and adults. Dr. Murphy is also skilled in psychological testing and when needed can supplement therapy with intellectual, achievement, autism, and limited neuropsych testing to provide diagnostic clarification or link to additional services.
